Our artwork developed from a combination of response to material and location. We hoped to make something that both looked striking and at home in the place. Situated along a streamline and near to pathways, roads and the less visible tracks of wild animals the artwork presents another line in the landscape.
While making the piece we experimented with the special forgiving qualities of the cork, I thought of the work almost as a second skin hovering above the land and protecting the earth as the cork protects the oak from forest fires.
We look forward to see how the work will look over the coming seasons as grass and flowers grow up through the sculpture and the trees become densely covered in leaves changing the light and experience of the place.
Durant 25 anys el cisteller Tim Johnson ha explorat les relacions entre material, lloc, caràcter i cultura. La seva pràctica creativa inclou performance, fotografia, pintura, escultura, instal·lació, tèxtils i vestimenta i la seva obra ha estat exhibida internacionalment.
Combina un respecte profund per la cistelleria tradicional amb les seves innovacions pròpies i gaudeix fent servir una gran varietat de materials i tècniques trobades als seus viatges, la seva recerca i a la seva pràctica creativa pròpia.
Nascut a Newcastle upon Tyne, Anglaterra, Tim ha viscut a diverses regions d'Anglaterra i Irlanda i actualment viu a Barcelona. Tim és un tutor experimentat i recentment ha estat atorgat el prestigiós premi "Marsh Award for Excellence in Gallery Education" i altres premis pels seus cistells a Espanya i Polònia.
